Uploading Photos
After creating your album through the wizard, the first step is uploading your photos. This happens on a dedicated upload page before you enter the editor.
Drag and Drop
The fastest way. Drag files from your computer straight into the upload area. Drop hundreds at once if you want.
Upload Button
Click Upload to open a file picker. Select multiple files at once.
Supported Formats
| Format | Extensions |
|---|---|
| JPEG | .jpg, .jpeg |
| PNG | .png |
| WebP | .webp |
| HEIC | .heic, .heif |
For best print quality, use photos at 300 DPI or higher. Max file size: 100 MB per photo.
Smart Upload Pipeline
Spreadu handles large uploads efficiently:
- Duplicate detection. Photos are checksummed before upload. If you've already uploaded a photo, Spreadu catches it.
- Parallel uploads. Multiple files upload simultaneously with adaptive concurrency based on your connection speed.
- Large file support. Files over 10 MB use resumable multipart uploads. If your connection drops, the upload picks up where it left off.
- Progress tracking. A drawer shows real-time progress for every file in the queue.
Organizing with Scenes
Scenes are collections for grouping your photos. Think of them like folders or chapters: ceremony, portraits, reception, details. Whatever makes sense for the shoot.
Creating a Scene
- Select photos in the grid
- Click Create Scene
- Name it and pick a color
- Done. Your photos are grouped.
Working with Scenes
- Drag photos into a scene to add them
- Move photos between scenes via right-click
- Reorder scenes by dragging them in the sidebar
- Collapse scenes to focus on the ones you're working with
Each scene gets a colored header so you can tell them apart at a glance.
Selecting Photos
The photo grid supports every selection method you'd expect:
- Click a photo to select it
- Shift+Click to select a range
- Cmd/Ctrl+Click to toggle individual photos
- Drag to lasso-select a group of photos
Storage
Your storage usage is visible in the dashboard sidebar. Each plan comes with a different allocation. See Storage & Quota for details.
Deleting a photo removes it from all spreads where it's placed. This can't be undone.
